Liberty, Illinois · family farm since 2015

(309) 634-1518

A family of six, on a small homestead.

We live in Liberty, Illinois. We have been experimenting, applying what we learn, and growing and foraging food for ourselves, friends, and neighbors.
Leonard Land and Livestock isn’t your regular Farm. We are able to offer various farm services and are a food producer you and your family can trust. It’s our mission to be stewards of all entrusted to us. We strive to produce from our land & offer healthy food options for our community.

It's the healthiest, freshest food we can raise.

Soil health is our top priority. When it comes to feeding ourselves, doesn't it make sense to choose a system that values modeling nature over trying to out do nature before she gets you? There are always more than one way or other ways to do the same thing, of course. But we believe regenerative practices win out. We strive to earn your trust when it comes to being a local food producer you can come to directly.

We are a local dealer for Fertrell.

Serving the Quincy, IL area and surrounding communities, we supply Fertrell natural fertilizers, soil amendments, and livestock minerals to local gardeners, farmers, and hobbyists looking for top-quality nutrients and minerals. Call and ask what is on hand.

We are working to restore native grasslands for rotational, multi-species grazing with the cattle and the sheep. We manage multiple farms so each pasture gets enough rest and recovery before it is grazed again.

The animals are treated ethically, in step with nature.

The beef is 100% grass-fed and sold as a quarter, a half, a three-quarter, or a whole.

Your meat is custom processed the way you want it, at The Country Butcher Shop in Palmyra, Missouri, or at Dawning Day Processing in Clayton, Illinois.

If you custom order within a reasonable distance, we can deliver.

We can offer grass genetic animals. We are using a Greg Judy bull to breed the South Poll cattle and a mixed-breed Corrientes/Sim Angus coming from Horstmann Cattle Company.

The Navajo-Churro sheep are a rare breed we raise and protect.

Never any grain.

The Navajo-Churro sheep have been adjusted to the Midwest climate and forage for many years now, but are tied to flocks from the West. Sometimes they are corralled and fed hay so they can be protected from predators. They are shorn by hand. Wool and meat from the flock can be purchased upon request, and the meat is cut the way you want it.

If a sheep or a cow is already due for processing, Kyle can tan the hide.

He likes that work. It is hands-on, done to honor the animal and not waste anything.

Logs can be milled here or where they fell.

Where does your food come from?

Do you know where your food is coming from? Do you fully trust the sources?

When you buy from us, you can be sure our land and animals have been ethically treated at all times and in sync with nature. We are small, and that’s fine. If you want to know your farmer and be able to trust your food source, please consider getting to know us! We look forward to meeting you.
