The Navajo-Churro flock

Navajo-Churro sheep, a horned ram with a heavy fleece and ewes nearby

We raise and protect Navajo-Churro sheep, as we raise the cattle. They are a rare breed, and keeping them is part of the work of this farm.

The sheep are never fed grain. Sometimes they need to be corralled and fed hay so they can be protected from predators.

Wool and meat can be purchased upon request. Sheep meat is custom processed the way you want it, at The Country Butcher Shop in Palmyra, Missouri, or at Dawning Day Processing in Clayton, Illinois. If you custom order within a reasonable distance, we can deliver. There is no cart and no standing price on this page. Tell us which you want, and we will tell you what the flock has.

Wool is the fleece as it comes off the sheep. The meat is from a sheep that was never fed grain. If you spin, or if you want to feed people, we can help you.

A tanned hide is different. Kyle cannot walk out back and pull a finished one off a shelf. When a sheep or a cow is already due for processing, he can tan the hide. He likes that work. It is a long, hands-on process, done to honor the animal and not waste anything.

Write under this note or call the farm. Say wool or meat, and say what you hope to do with it. We will answer questions about the breed and about the feeding. If you are hoping for a hide, say so, and we will tell you whether an animal is due for processing.
